Data Analyst

At Opareta, we are building digital infrastructure and tools to rethink how mobile money agent networks operate. Our platform is designed to help mobile money agents digitize their operations, access data insights, and gain access to working capital and other products to grow their businesses sustainably.

We are looking for a data analyst to be the first hire in our data team, working closely with the Head of Data and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making. “Users First” is the cornerstone of our operating principles at Opareta, and in this role, you will help us understand the underlying factors that drive agent happiness and success. You will play a pivotal role in identifying areas for product enhancement, elevating the quality of our services, and optimizing our operational efficiency.

This position is fully remote.

About you

• 2+ years in a similar position
• Fluent in SQL: you know the difference between SQL that works and performant SQL
• Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) and basic familiarity with GCP or AWS
• Passionate about data, metrics, and dashboarding (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, and presentation skills
• Curious: you love experimenting and don’t rest until you find the “why” and “how”

Bonus points

• Experience using the command line and Git
• Knowledge of Python and/or R
• Familiarity with modern data stack tools like dbt for data modeling, Airbyte for data ingestion, etc.
• Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment
• (Advanced) degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Math, CS)

• Help craft the company’s Business Intelligence strategy and create reports and dashboards that are actionable and used across multiple teams at Opareta to make strategic decisions
• Perform data analyses for external teams and clearly communicate findings to a broad range of stakeholders
• Help build the data modeling layer, which exposes clean transformed data to the whole company for analytics and advanced data science use cases
• Partner with data and engineering teams to build the infrastructure to track key business metrics.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven insights and improvements in business processes
